Green tea is a powerhouse ingredient in this chemical peel, particularly for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It contains polyphenols, specifically epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which help to calm redness, soothe irritation, and combat the oxidative stress that can contribute to acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
When paired with salicylic acid, green tea enhances the peel's effectiveness by reducing potential irritation while supporting skin healing. Salicylic acid works by dissolving the bonds between skin cells, helping to unclog pores and prevent future breakouts. However, chemical exfoliation can sometimes cause temporary inflammation, which is where green tea plays a crucial role—it helps to balance and soothe the skin, making this peel an excellent option even for sensitive or acne-prone clients.
Additionally, the mildly acidic pH of 2.9 makes it appropriate as a first time peel.
