How To Market Yourself As A Korean Skincare Specialist

I get asked all the do I market myself and draw in clients as an esthetician who specializes in Korean skincare? I think what it comes down to is understanding exactly what Korean skincare embodies, that way you can authentically and passionately explain what sets you apart from your competition. I always tell my clients they are getting a facial from the future....and it's true. When using Korean skincare you're using products, ingredients, application styles, and hitting sensorial details that aren't happening elsewhere. Not only is Korean skincare almost a decade ahead of us, because it's constantly innovating due to high competition within their country, but also with the rest of the world. The Korean government allocates a lot of money to helping beauty businesses launch, market, and export, which keeps them at the forefront of the beauty industry.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Korea and eastern Asia in general are steeped in tradition, using herbs and fermentation processes that truly make a meaningful difference in our lives. With years of use, they have really figured out what works and doesn't work.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The Korean approach is very much holistic. They focus on the root cause rather than using band-aids. They understand the delicate balance of the skin barrier, and their treatments reflect that. They perform less exfoliation and take their time to nourish the skin, which provides lasting results. Have you ever noticed how skin glows after a peel? Everybody wants that glow, but that is NOT sustainable. What is sustainable is strengthening the skin barrier for a happy, healthy barrier, which delivers a natural healthy glow. Practicing with intention also means that each treatment should be customized. Seasonal facials can be fun, but what's even better is your client feeling like a treatment has been completely curated for them. So let them know that you work from a very intentional space, and each treatment you provide is based on their skin's needs in the moment.

𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Snail Mucin, PDRN, Stem Cells, Mugwart, Tranexamic Acid, Hexylresorcinol -- There is so much to love about the ingredients Koreans are putting into their skincare. Of course, like any country, not all skincare is good, but this is why I try things about for awhile, and do deep dives into ingredients before I bring them on. They also innovate in creative ways that add to the overall user experience. It's always about the details. From the packaging, applicators, marketing and more, they make skincare fun to use.

So next time your client asks, "Why Korean skincare" explain to them that you are using technologies which aren't mainstream or readily available in the US....YET. That your approach is holistic to ensure lasting results, and not for instant gratification. That within your holistic practice you understand that everything is connected. Gut, skin, mental health, it's all deeply intertwined, and they aren't just another face. This is a holistic self-care journey, and you're there with them. Because we all know that this industry is more than facials, it's about building relationships.
