8 Ways I'm Prepping My Business For The New Year

8 Ways I'm Prepping My Business For The New Year

Posted by Sarah Kinsler-Holloway on

As the calendar flips to a new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on the past and set the course for the future. As an esthetician specializing in Korean skincare (or even an esthetician in general), you know the importance of staying ahead of the curve.

Here are some ways I am getting my business ready for the new year, and some ideas that you may want to implement.

1. Out with the Old

A clean, organized treatment room is crucial for providing top-notch services. I'm bringing in the new year by going through my cupboards and drawers to organize and get rid of any expired product.  I love using little plastic inserts in my dresser to keep things organized.

2. Linen Revamp

Our clients deserve the best, and that includes fresh, high-quality linens. I'll be sorting through my linens, discarding old and worn ones, replacing with new ones. Clients will notice the difference.  My favorite sheets are the room essential sheets by Target, and I get my favorite duvet cover from Amazon.

Also, I'll be recycling my old spa headwraps and replacing them with new ones.

3. Revamp Intake Forms

Intake forms are the first impression clients have of our professionalism. Each year I take time to revamp them to give them a fresh look, and tweaking anything that may need adjustment.

4. Optimize Automated Emails

Automated emails are a valuable tool to increase revenue, and improve the client's experience.  If you aren't using automated emails yet, I highly recommend sitting down and creating a flow to support your customer's journey.  If you already have flows set up, maybe now is a good time to sit down and update them.

5. Set Monthly Financial Goals

Setting financial goals is essential for growth. Outline clear, achievable monthly targets to measure your business's success. This allows you to track your progress and make necessary adjustments.

Each month I sit down and budget and plan for the upcoming month. I include my anticipated operating expenses, and I also set retail/service goals.

6. Update Calendar

As hardworking estheticians, we deserve some time off. I am notorious for working holidays because I forgot to close off my schedule. Not this year though.  I am going through and making a list of important dates for holidays or personal time, and I am closing off my schedule. Period.

7. Content Batching

I know I am always talking about content batching, but I promise, content batching helps your business run like a fine oiled machine.  It doesn't have to be anything super overwhelming, just plan your content strategy for the first quarter. Create batches of content in advance to ensure a consistent online presence, from blog posts to social media updates. If you're confused about how to content batch, I wrote a blog about it, and also made a video!

8.  Reinvest in Your Business

Reinvesting our time and money into our business is how we grow. This could mean so many different things depending on your business model.  Some ways I am reinvesting include, taking continuing education classes, expanding my product range, exploring ways to improve my marketing strategy, and continuously saving 10% of my weekly sales into a profit account which will be my bonus at the end of the year.

I hope this was helpful and maybe inspired some to set goals that will help you stay organized, efficient, and forward-thinking.
